Scholarship Opportunities
In keeping with its mission, the Community Garden Club of Duxbury (CGCD) is pleased to announce three scholarship/grant opportunities for residents of our community. The first scholarship is intended for Duxbury residents who are high school seniors, including those attending out-of-town public or private schools, who have demonstrated a commitment to beautifying Duxbury and/or protecting its environment. The scholarship award is up to $1,000 - The Community Garden Club of Duxbury (CGCD) Senior Student Scholarship Application for Duxbury Residents.
The second grant is for Duxbury residents who are in grades 6 -12 and are seeking funding, up to $500, to help defray the costs of a project/effort currently in progress that strives to beautify/protect the Duxbury community/environment. The Community Garden Club of Duxbury (CGCD) Student Grant Application for Duxbury Residents – Duxbury Environmental/Community Grant.
The final grant is for Duxbury residents, of any age, enrolled in a course of study that focuses on horticulture, landscape design, city planning, land management, botany, environmental studies, earth sciences, forestry, or allied subjects. Applicants may have completed all or part of his/her coursework and need not be enrolled in a four year program. However, their course of study should lead to a diploma, certification or other type of accreditation. An award of up to $500 is available. General Meetings are held every second Tuesday from September thru June at the Duxbury Bay Maritime School, 457 Washington Street, Duxbury, Massachusetts. Unless otherwise noted, the format is: Coffee and tea from 9am to 9:30am, Business Meeting from 9:30am to 10am, Program from 10am to 11:30am.
Meetings are open to the public for a nominal fee of $5.00. Everyone is welcome.
The Community Garden Club of Duxbury was organized in 1927 and is a member of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts (South Shore District) and the National Garden Clubs (New England Region).
